Dim Display Apple Repair
Dim display issues are typically caused by one of the following:
- A faulty backlight IC
- A defective screen
- A logic board not supplying the correct voltage, preventing the screen from illuminating.
Many repair centers may jump to replacing the screen, which can be a costly mistake if misdiagnosed. In contrast, we can replace the backlight IC at a fraction of the cost.
Over the past 2-3 years, Retina screens have become standard on Apple Macs, and fitting the wrong screen can damage the LCD connector, the Retina display, and the backlight. The real issue often lies with the logic board, which fails to output the correct voltage to the screen or the screen’s PCB, a fault that can be economically repaired.
Common symptoms include:
- Faint Apple logo
- Powers on with the startup sound, but the screen remains blank
- Completely blank or black screen
- Flickering screen
